    Very pleased with my purchase
This is my first use of a serger. I been using a Brother sewing machine for about 5 years and really love it, so when I started looking for a serger, I wanted to look at Brother first. I read other reviews to help decide. When I made my purchase, I read through the entire user guide, threaded the machine as directed and tested on scraps. I was able to have successful results the first time. I have found when I use different weights of fabric I have best results when I refer to the user guide to ... read more determine the appropriate needles, thread weight and tension. Then I test on scraps until I get the correct tensions for the results for which I am looking. I am still learning and experimenting with what I can do with my Brother Serger but I have been very pleased with my purchase.

    Even Stiches
Manual threading but easy to thread, stiches are nice and even, this is a great machine. I've sewn a variety of stitches on various fabrics the stitch quality has been very good. Excellent value for the price.

Nice machine for the money, but a bit noisier than I would like. Also the hand wheel is hard to turn and seems like it gets "stuck". Other than that, no complaints.

    Works great
This machine works great. I have a hard time getting the fabric out of the machine once I am finished stitching and that is why I gave it 4 stars. There should be an easier way to remove the fabric.

Awesome work horse and great service
I got this machine and oiled it right out of the box because of the reviews I had read. Works great! Heavy so it doesn't shake. I did read one review about the lower cutting blade breaking and mine did. When I emailed the co, I said upper blade by mistake and they sent me a new one right away. As soon as I received it I realized my mistake, so I emailed them again and they told me to keep the upper and sent me the correct one. Very pleased with the machine and the service!

    Wonderful machine
I love my brother 1034d serger!! I used it right out of the box. It is so easy to operate. You can control the speed with the foot pedal. I needed to thread the machine and it was so easy to do following the video and book directions. I am so glad that I purchased this machine.

Glad I got this serger. Easy to thread and use.
I was new to to using a serger but made a pair of size 2 boy shorts in about one half an hour. So easy and quick when sewing with a serger. I also sewed a same size shirt with the serger. So much faster and easier. I like using it.

    Nice machine!
i found the machine easy to use with the help of the manual. I like the extra length of the table which is included. Helps keep fabric from being pulled down.

    Very pleased, thus far
My Baby Lock broke after 50 years and I was forced to get a new serger. I did a lot of research and chose this one particularly for its features; i.e., the free arm, ease of threading for my failing eyesight. My research proved out. This machine is extremely well designed in every way. If I had any suggestion for improvement, it would be for a longer cord between the machine and the foot pedal! I find this one REALLY short. The table and the video are very nice/helpful additions. I have just ... read more used it for regular serging so far. I'm still experimenting with stitches and just got elastic foot to try. It has won me over. I do hope it lasts as long as my Baby Lock!
